Museum Art of the Day: MOCA’s “Art in the Streets” — the first major US museum exhibition dedicated to street art — opens to the public this Sunday, and will remain open through August 8.
Among the familiar pieces stretching all the way back to the dawn of graffiti-based vandalism are new and original pieces from the likes of Os Gemeos and Banksy (above).
My Modern Met took some photos during yesterday’s press opening which you can see here.

This is so dope that it makes me want to go to LA to sign up for an Art Appreciation course (again) at a community college (again) just so I can go to the MOCA and check it out.
Thank you to the artist who wrote this. Sometimes pointing out the obvious in such ways is profound. It is as simple as that, it is not a complex issue and there is no justification for war. The wanton killing of people is terrorism, not a war against terrorism.

This is for you, Michael Bay.

This > Transformers 2.
And you know what? I would actually pay good money for this.
(Good money = ~$20)
Fan Art of the Day: “The Legend of ZELDA” by Nathan Maurer.
Zelda meets Scott Pilgrim.

Bill Mudron: “Creation of Homer”
Mudron whips up a little something “to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the airing of the first Simpsons episode, way back on December 17th, 1989.”

This photo brings back a lot of memories. I used to love The Simpsons when they were at their peak, which in my opinion, were the middle seasons. Back in my younger days, the re-runs that ran everyday and the new episodes that showed on Sunday night, were my and my brother’s “must watch tv”. I’ll still watch some of the older episodes, but the newer ones just don’t seem as good to me, for a number of reasons. The “new” HD look just doesn’t seem right and the writing seems a little stale now, but I guess that’s understandable for a show that’s been on for as long as The Simpsons has. Going through the cast members on the flickr link above, The Simpsons had some unbelievable talent working on it. I had no idea Conan O’Brien was a writer and I’m a huge fan of The Office, which has Greg Daniels’ fingerprints all over it.
*sigh* I’m getting old.
Gallery-Grade Street Art of the Day: “OBEY Colbert” — one-of-a-kind piece, hand-made by Shepard Fairey for Stephen Colbert.

Shepard Fairey is one fucking talented dude. Stephen Colbert is always on point with his funny talk as well.
